A young town with young houses
Anna counted 1,225 people in 2000. By 2010 the census count was 8,249; by 2020 it was 16,896. A July 2023 Census Bureau estimate put Anna at 27,501.
Growth like that means water damage restoration in Anna is mostly about newer houses: master-planned subdivisions such as The Villages of Hurricane Creek and Meadow Vista, many with homeowners associations. New construction rarely has worn-out pipes. What it does have is hundreds of fittings, hoses and drain connections that can fail in the first years, plus foundations still settling into Blackland Prairie clay that swells when wet and shrinks when dry.
Older homes near downtown and out on rural lots have their own stories, but the call is the same: stop the water, stay safe, then get the wet areas measured.

Anna water, power and permit numbers
Water and sewer
City of Anna Public Works, 972-924-4510 by day. After hours, weekdays after 5 p.m. and all weekend: 214-585-7725. Use it for main breaks, overflowing sewer mains and leaking meters or hydrants.
Electricity and gas
Depending on the address, power comes through Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative or Oncor; your bill says which. The city lists Atmos Energy for natural gas.
Building Department
120 W. 7th St., Suite 142, 972-924-2616, weekdays 8 to 5. Anna's fee schedule covers repairs and remodels, and its simple permit form lists foundation repair, a sewer camera job and windows and doors.
Anna's tap water comes from a mix of city wells and treated lake water. The city says about 65 percent now comes from surface water produced by the North Texas Municipal Water District and delivered through the Greater Texoma Utility Authority, with the rest from deep wells the city owns.
Water damage restoration in Anna: what to do first
Safety first. Shut off the main water valve if you can get to it without risk. Water and electricity together are the real hazard, so stay out of any puddle that touches an outlet, a cord or an appliance. Switch off the breaker only when the panel can be reached from dry flooring; if it cannot, call Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative or Oncor, whichever is on your bill or an electrician. A gas smell means everyone goes outside, and the calls to 911 and Atmos Energy are made from there. Floodwater and sewage are not safe to wade through, for adults, children or pets. Once everyone is safe, take photos for the insurance claim and carry valuables and documents to a dry room.
- Find your main shutoff now, while nothing is wrong, and make sure every adult in the house can turn it.
- If the leak is in the yard on the city's side, or at the meter box, call Public Works or the after-hours number instead of digging.
- Take photos of each soaked room and item while it still sits where the water found it, and save receipts for anything you buy to protect the house.
- If you rent, or an HOA maintains part of the building, send the landlord or HOA a written notice right away.
- If the home is still under a builder warranty, read what it says about plumbing leaks and call the builder too.

Creeks and open land around Anna
Slayter Creek runs through Anna, and the city's Slayter Creek Park on West Rosamond Parkway follows it with a walking trail. Low ground along creeks like this one is where FEMA maps floodplain. Creek water and runoff that pour inside are treated as Category 3, the dirtiest grade in the IICRC S500 water standard, so the soaked carpet and lower drywall it reaches usually have to go.
A standard homeowners policy does not cover flood. Look up your address on FEMA's flood maps before you buy. If you decide on a National Flood Insurance Program policy, plan ahead: FEMA says there is generally a 30 day wait before coverage starts.
Services Anna callers most often need

Water Extraction and Emergency Water Removal
Standing water from a supply line, water heater or storm: what extraction equipment does, carpet and pad decisions, and why drying has to follow.

Burst Pipe Water Damage
Frozen and failed pipes in attics, outside walls and garages. Shut the water off, call a plumber for the pipe and a restoration company for the drying.

Mold Removal and Black Mold
Black mold after a leak in a DFW home: why color does not decide the risk, where the 25 square foot line falls in Texas, what to leave alone, and why the leak is fixed first.
Mold testing is a separate job in Texas. The line takes testing calls as a message for now, because state rules keep the mold assessor and the remediator on one project apart. Read how mold testing works.
How an Anna call is handled

- Call the numberAn automated assistant answers (469) 649-7066 at any hour and asks what you need help with. The same number answers other home service calls too, so start with "water damage" or "mold".

- Get transferredWater damage calls go to an independent, locally owned DFW restoration company; mold removal calls go to an independent mold remediation company. Each hears a short summary before it picks up. Mold testing calls are taken as a message for now.
- Deal with that company directlyIt inspects, quotes and does the work, and you pay it (or your insurer does, as you arrange). If it cannot answer, it gets your name, number, city and problem so it can call you back.
Calling from Anna? Say the town and the street or subdivision, then what is leaking. The restoration company hears that summary before it picks up, and anything it charges comes from its own estimate after it sees the house.
About this line: Water Damage Pro Dallas is a free phone line, not a restoration or mold company. It answers your call and connects you with an independent local company, which inspects, quotes and does the work, and which you pay directly. Companies may pay a referral fee. Calling the line costs you nothing. See how a call is handled.
