Euless grew up fast, and its plumbing is getting older
In 1960 Euless had about 4,263 people. By 1970 it had 19,316. Jobs at the nearby Bell Helicopter plant and the airport drew families in, and many neighborhoods date from that rush.
Today Euless sits in the Mid-Cities of Tarrant County, between Dallas and Fort Worth, and the southwest corner of DFW International Airport lies inside its city limits. Many of the houses from the boom years are now more than 50 years old. That age matters for water damage restoration in Euless: old supply lines, water heaters and drain lines fail more often, and a slow leak in a 1960s kitchen can go unnoticed for months.
The town keeps a piece of its earlier past at Heritage Park, where the Fuller House, the first brick house in Euless, and the Himes Log House from the 1850s still stand.

When a pipe breaks: shut it off first
Euless has told residents plainly: if you find a leak or a broken pipe, turn your water off. The city posted a video on closing the main valve and gave 817-685-1580 as the number to call for help shutting off service. Find your valve now, while nothing is leaking.
- Close the main valve, if you can reach it safely, or call the city number above for help.
- Stay clear of wet outlets and appliances. If the panel can only be reached through water, leave it alone and phone Oncor or an electrician.
- Photograph the damage before you move anything.
- Call a plumber for the pipe, and the free line for the drying and cleanup.
What fails in older Euless homes
Lines under the slab
North Texas clay swells when wet and shrinks in dry spells, so slab foundations move, and pipes under them can crack. Clues include a bill that climbs with no change in habits, or one patch of floor that feels warm underfoot.
Tired water heaters
A tank that rusts through in a garage or hall closet can put dozens of gallons on the floor. If yours is old, check the base and the pan now and then.
Sink and toilet supply lines
Small lines behind cabinets and toilets are easy to forget until one fails. When they split, the water spreads under cabinets and baseboards.

Burst Pipe Water Damage
Frozen and failed pipes in attics, outside walls and garages. Shut the water off, call a plumber for the pipe and a restoration company for the drying.

Slab Leak Water Damage
A leak under the foundation needs two trades: a licensed plumber finds and repairs the pipe, and a restoration company dries the floors and walls it soaked.

Water Damage Repair
Putting a house back together after the drying is done: drywall, floors, cabinets and paint, who does each part, permits in Dallas and the paperwork your insurer will want.
A utility break versus a break in your house

One June, a 48-inch main ruptured at the Trinity River Authority treatment plant on Trinity Boulevard at House Anderson Road in Euless. Euless and Bedford asked residents to stop sprinklers and cut back on water while it was repaired. There was no loss of pressure, so no boil notice was needed, and the order ended once the pipe was disinfected and back in service.
A break like that is a utility problem, not a homeowner's. Inside your walls is different. Anything on your side of the meter, from the pipe under the slab to the hose behind the washer, is yours to shut off and have repaired.
Safety first. Shut off the main water valve if you can get to it without risk. Water and electricity together are the real hazard, so stay out of any puddle that touches an outlet, a cord or an appliance. Switch off the breaker only when the panel can be reached from dry flooring; if it cannot, call Oncor or an electrician. A gas smell means everyone goes outside, and the calls to 911 and Atmos Energy are made from there. Floodwater and sewage are not safe to wade through, for adults, children or pets. Once everyone is safe, take photos for the insurance claim and carry valuables and documents to a dry room.
Before you hire a company in Euless
- Ask what kind of water this is, clean, gray or black, and what that means for the carpet and drywall.
- Ask for moisture readings each day until the house is dry, and a written estimate before any tear-out.
- Ask whether the firm shows up on the IICRC Global Locator and whether it can send a certificate of insurance.
- If the damage is old and there is mold, ask whether the job will need a separate licensed assessor; Texas does not allow one license holder to assess and remediate the same project.
